John Chapman, President, And Founder of JASA Know Firsthand How a Family Can Easily Fall into The Scary Life of Being Homeless. He Looked into Every Opportunity to Change Things for His Girls to Have a Stable Home Once Again. John Believes Everyone Deserves a Helping Hand as a Boost Toward Their Productivity. John Wants Others to Have the Opportunity to Be Helped, Trained, Educated, And Steered Toward the Independence to Sustain Their Family as He Has. Thus, The Idea of the Johnny Apple Seed Association, Inc. Was Born.John Chapman (1774-1845) Was Known as Johnny Appleseed Because He Walked Across the United States Planting His Apple Seeds and Making a Difference in People’s Lives Ensuring That Those Seeds Would Grow Trees with Apples to Feed People in the Area. Same Name Different Century and Man. John Started JASA With a Yearning Of “Sowing the Seed to Those in Need”. JASA Is a Non-Profit Organization with Helps the Area’s Veterans and Needy Families and Individuals in Mind.

JASA‘s Goal Is to Encourage Their Clients to Strive to Gain Independence and Self-Confidence to Sustain Themselves Financially in the Near Future. Since 2014 JASA Worked Together with Several Veteran Associations to Have Fundraisers That Enabled Us to Feed, Clothe, And Find Housing for Some of Our Veterans in Need. We Also Continue to Host Our Annual Christmas Toy Distribution to Veteran and Area Needy Children. The Children at Area Shelters Are Delighted When Our Santa Claus Brings Them Toys for the Christmas Season. We Have Hosted Many BBQs At Area Homeless Tent Cities. Many Homeless Count on Us for A Hot Meal That Day. We Have Distributed Turkeys and Other Meats to Many of Our Veteran Client Families.

In 2015 We Acquired a Mobile Unit to Take into Areas Where Many Clients Needing Jobs Can Come Aboard to Use Our Computers to Seek Employment Possibilities. The Mobile Unit Was Also Used to Host Classes to Educate Our Clients According to Their Needs. JASA Realized We Have Outgrown Our Mobile Unit Due to the Great Need for Space for All the Needs of Our Veteran and Area Clients. Our Falls Church Office Opened in January 2016. We Had a Classroom with Desks, Chairs & Computers. The Classroom Is Equipped for Our Many Volunteer Teachers to Educate Our Clients. The Following Is Our Hopes and Dreams for the Near Future For JASA.

*A Volunteer Mobile Medical/ Dental Unit To Meet Those In Need At Shelters, Tent Cities.Etc.

*A Full Schedule of Classes at Our Office *More Fundraisers *Give Hope to Those Who Think There Is No Way Out of Being Homeless, Needy…Etc.

Frequently Asked Question

Are classes online or in person?

Both. We have a hybrid approach. Our curriculums are online to help establish the students' knowledge base. Simulations and knowledge checks are in the meatspace with a VR headset. Hands-on labs and instruction are conducted in person at any of our lab locations, or we can send a kit in the mail. Different courses have labs on different days; otherwise, a student can make an appointment for lab access at their convenience.

Is there a way to do a course completely online?

Yes. We are currently working on a way for the courses to be completed through mail correspondence and the labs virtually with access to an instructor. You can sign up to learn more information and when the program goes active we can inform you. Until then the option that we have is the hybrid one with the labs in person at one of our locations.

Are courses accredited?

Yes. We are accredited through IACET. We have a relationship with NCCER. Our courses count for credits with NATE and have transferring CEU’s. Each certificate will tell you how much the course weighs.

How long do the courses take to complete?

The average student completes their course blocks within 10 -12 weeks. Most students have families and part/full time jobs while attending. It depends on your work ethic and dedication to the program. Most students finish before the average timeframe.

Do I have to come in for scheduled classes?

No. It’s based on your schedule. You can log in whenever you want to stay on top of your course. We have schedules for labs but not for classes. This is our differentiator. We trust the student to handle their class materials and we focus on the labs and the hands on portion to make sure the student has the logic of the trade down packed, and they can trouble shoot effectively.

Are their refunds?

No. We have a case by case understanding where we can consider refunds but in general the answer is no according to our refund policy. We try to take extra precaution before allowing the students to enroll and sign up. We never let the student sign up in the same day.If there is an error or some negligence on our part as a company then we are the first to take ownership and take care our the return of finances but in general its the students decision to do homework and make sure this is the direction they want to go in. Please take the time to do due diligence and confirm all that we are sharing information and resource wise. Once the student has enrolled into the class there are no refunds given off general pretenses.

What do students receive when they graduate?

Students receive their certification of course completion. They receive a card from Osha for the safety handling. If enrolled in the HVACR course, they receive their epa 608 card. In the students online portal is a list of every certification and the CEU weights they carry.

Is there an opportunity to earn while learning?

Yes. In our pre apprenticeship program you will learn the trade. In the actual apprenticeship program where you will be given a job through one of our networked companies. We work directly with out contact to make sure your hours are counted toward your journeyman. We do own an hvac and electric company. We do own a renovation company. We can work with the students to help get them on board and chasing down their hours toward their journeyman license and more.

Is there financial aid available?

Yes. In several ways. We work with several organizations who will fund you depending on your financial circumstance. We also have a scholarship fund that all students can apply for. City of Zion is our non profit organization that regularly gives out rewards to our students. Open admission for application to the scholarship is available. We are seeking our financial school code with our recent approval from the Department of Labor. By end of 2025 we expect to have a school code that students can use with fafsa applications.

"I have a student who went through our electrical program in prison while finishing his 26-year sentence. When he was released, he went on to get professionally licensed, get married, buy a house, and now owns his own company in Maryland. He's doing great, and he's giving back to society. It just shows how giving people a chance at a career makes them less likely to re-offend."
